New Findings in 2010: Relationship between Corn Steam Tablet Thickness and Feeding Effect

The trials conducted by the Luyuan Greens's husbandry technicians showed that the thickness of the corn steam pressure tablet will affect the feed intake of fattening beef cattle, which in turn will affect the weight gain and feed remuneration of the finishing beef cattle. Feeding beef cattle less than 1 mm thick with tableting corn resulted in an average daily weight gain of 1280 g of beef for finishing. Compared with 2 mm corn flakes and 6 mm corn flakes, they increased weight gain by 4.07% and 6.67%, respectively; maize with a thickness of less than 1 mm was used. When the flake was fed to beef cattle, the requirement of 1 kg of feed (dry matter) per weight was 5.6 kg, which was 2.78% and 3.62% higher than the thickness of 2 mm corn flakes and 6 mm corn flakes, respectively. Therefore, the thickness of steam-compressed corn should be less than 1 mm in the actual fattening of beef cattle.
