Short-term meat prices will not fall

Affected by drastic reduction in the number of live pigs and rising feed prices, the price of pork in Datong City began to rise strongly, rising from RMB 12 to RMB 12.6 per kilogram before the May 1st Golden Week to RMB 14 to RMB 15.6 per kilogram. Experts predict that the rising trend of pork prices will continue and will not fall in the short term.

A big pig farmer said that now pigs can make money, and each pig removes the cost of about 730 yuan, making a net profit of more than 270 yuan. In 2006, he kept a pig at a loss of 50 to 80 yuan and raised a sow at a loss of 500 yuan. He suffered heavy losses from raising pigs. Starting from January this year, the price of live pigs began to rise slowly, the price of piglets has been hovering around 100 to 120 yuan, the price of fattening pigs is firm at 9 to 9.6 yuan per kilogram, and the price of white pig meat is at 12 to 13 yuan per kilogram. By April, the piglets had risen to more than 130 yuan per head, and soared to about 180 yuan in May. The price of pigs quickly rose to 9.6 yuan per kilogram after the "May 1st Golden Week," and some rose to 10.4 yuan. The price of pork rose to 14 to 15.6 yuan per kilogram. This year is something to earn.

Higher feed prices are also a factor in the rise in meat prices. The price of corn at the same period last year was 1.1 to 1.2 yuan per kilogram, which rose to 1.4 yuan per kilogram this year, an increase of 27%. Last year, the price of soybean meal was 2,300 yuan per ton, which has risen to 2,600 yuan this year, an increase of 13%. Li Shunji believes that the price of pork will rise and prices will not fall in the short term.
