Millennium cultivation techniques

The millennium is the dried rhizome of the amazon plant (homalomena occulta (lour.) schott). It is also referred to as a pack of needles, a thousand years of sight, a group of grasshoppers, a thousand needles, and a bay flood (Slang). Medicinal herbs contain aromatic volatile oil components. Bitter, spicy, and warm. It has the effects of removing rheumatism, strengthening bones, relieving pain and swelling. Treatment of rheumatism, sore limbs, thin bones and muscles, stomach pain, swollen boils embolism. It is mainly produced in the tropics of southern Guangxi and Yunnan provinces of China, and is also distributed in the southeast of Fujian Province. (-) Morphological characteristics Millennium is a perennial herb. Root pods, long cylindrical, fleshy, 1 to 2 cm in diameter. The scaly leaves are linearly acicular; leaf membranous to papery, arrow-shaped heart-shaped, first-order lateral veins 7 pairs, of which 3 or 4 pairs are basal, backward lobes sloping and then arcuate, upper oblique Most of the second and third lateral veins are nearly parallel and weak. Inflorescences 1-3, leaves of scales, calyx, persistent, ellipsoidal, oblong to elliptic, 6-6.5 cm long, swept into a spindle, roughly 3 cm thick, slightly inflated into a short boat when in bloom, About 1 cm long; spadix inflorescences shortly or sessile. Berries with many seeds, oblong, brown, with many longitudinal ribs. Flowering from July to September. (b) Growth habits The millennium health is warm, humid, and closed. It is afraid of cold, drought, and strong light. It is a typical shade plant. Generally, the average annual temperature is about 22°C, annual rainfall is more than 1000mm, air relative humidity is more than 80%, canopy density is 70%-90%. The soil moisture content grows well on fertile sandy loam with 30% to 40%. Capable of short-term low temperature around 0°C. If it is too dry, the plants will easily wither and die. Under strong light, plants grow slowly, leaves turn yellow, and even burns occur. The millennium grows slowly. During the growth period, the height of the stem increases, and the rhizome grows and thickens. New shoots are continuously extracted from the rhizome node, and new ramets grow to form the plant plexus. The new ramets can be sprouted all year round, and the buds will grow into many plants during the vegetative growth period. (III) Cultivation Techniques 1. Selection of land, site preparation sites and planting sites are all suitable for the selection of broad-leaved forests with lush trees, loose soil and fertile slopes, river valleys, or streams and shade. Under-forest cultivation should choose slopes with a topography of no more than 30 degrees, and it is advisable to cultivate the mountainous region on the sandy soil with loose texture. Avoid cultivation in dry, low-lying, sticky, and thin soils. Under the forest cultivation, the soil is cleared in the early winter and early spring, and the debris under the forest is removed, and the canopy density is maintained at 70%-90%. The mountain cultivation should first be turned to the ground, generally 25-30 cm deep, made into high or flat, wide and long. High can be adapted to local conditions. 2. The breeding method reproduces with rhizomes. In addition to the cold season from December to February, other seasons can be reproduced. It is better to reproduce in March-April, and it can fully grow in the first year, which will help to spend the winter and spring low temperature and dry season. Choose a robust rhizome that is cut into 3-4 sections, 10-12 cm long. It can be transplanted or planted directly in Daejeon. Seedling nursery, according to spacing 15-20 cm, 12 cm spacing between the stem section, cover about 3 cm. Keep the seedbed moist. 1.5-2 months of hair rooting was established in Daejeon. Nursery planting should be performed in a cool and moist period and shaded in time. Colonization line spacing 50 cm 40 cm. Each hole is planted with 1 root or 1-2 segments of rhizome. 3. In the field, the seedlings were treated with weeding and soil loosening and topdressing with nitrogen fertilizer to promote seedling growth. Every year in the beginning of the spring and early summer rain season, it is carried out by embossing or ditching manure, turf, etc., and fertilizing soil with fertilizer, which is conducive to stem growth and warm wintering. The soil is easy to dry and moisturizes before winter. If the soil is dry during the dry season, it must be irrigated. Keep shade at all times to prevent direct sunlight. 4. Pest control At present, there are not many diseases and insect pests found. Occasionally, there are lesions in the leaves, but the damage is not serious. It can be eliminated by spraying 1:1:200 Bordeaux mixture in time. (4) Harvesting and processing After 3-5 years of cultivation, the roots and stems can be harvested when they grow to more than 40 cm. Generally suitable for autumn and winter harvest. After excavating fresh roots, remove stems, leaves, adventitious roots, skin and sediment impurities, cut and grow to 15-40 cm segments, dried or low-temperature drying. Do not cut a piece of the millennium into thin slices or slit it into thin strips to dry. Otherwise, the volatile oil of its active ingredient will dissipate too much and reduce the efficacy. According to inspections by the Yunnan Institute of Drug Control and the Honghe Prefecture Institute of Drug Control, Yunnan Province's milled Jianji Tablets have a volatile oil content of only 0.2%, while normal processed stems contain 0.7%-0.8% volatile oil. Obviously, the decrease in volatile oil content of the active ingredient is mainly due to improper processing methods.

Goji Berry ( [Goji" means [happy") , also called wolfberry, has been used for thousands of years by herbalists in China to protect the liver, help eyesight, boost immune function, improve circulation, and promote longevity and overall well being. It has only recently gained popularity in the west, it has become so polar, in fact, the Time Magazine recently named the Goji berry as [super-fruit" of the year. A big reason why Goji berries have quickly become a favorite nutritional supplement is that its impressive list of ingredients. The Goji berry, also called the wolfberry, is a bright purplish red or purple red berry that comes from a shrub that is native to China. In Asia, goji berries have been eaten for generation in the hope of living longer.
