How to deal with drought-resistant seedlings

In recent years, due to less rainfall in the northern regions, it has a greater impact on crops and has not affected the afforestation. To carry out drought-resistance afforestation, in addition to increasing variety selection and breeding, and carrying out scientific and technological and capital investment measures, we must also work hard on nursery management to carry out drought-resistant exercises on seedlings.

The Beijing region is arid and windy in spring. It is a very unfavorable factor for afforestation of barren hills and desolated beaches. Preparing the nursery stock for the spring gardens and controlling the watering time is the key. The frozen water is poured in late, and the seedlings fall into the dormant period and then watered. The Beijing area is generally from November to December. Thawed water cannot be poured. Because the spring temperature rises, after seeing the frozen water, the seedlings will return to green in advance. After returning green, the seedlings will be transplanted to the hills and wasteland. Due to the partial root system damage at the time of seedling growth, the growth and absorption of water cannot be resumed in time, and the above-ground part grows due to greening. With the dry and windy springs in spring, the amount of evaporation is large, resulting in imbalance of water supply and demand in the tree body and death. If the water is not thawed, the seedlings will be delayed to return to green time. The seedlings that are in dormancy will be transplanted to the hills and deserted beaches, with a small amount of transpiration, strong drought resistance and wind resistance, and a high survival rate. Do not throw back the green water, and watering before conserving the seedlings, dipping the conifers, digging the hardwood trees and dipping the roots are not contradictory.

In the past few years, the rainfall in the rainy season in Beijing has also been relatively small. In 2008, precipitation was more, but this year it was a dry year. How to improve the drought resistance of seedlings in the rainy season is a good way to shift root cuttings. In the rainy season, afforestation is generally done with container seedlings, including Platycladus orientalis, Pinus tabulaeformis, Astragalus membranaceus, Apricot apricot, Mongolian alfalfa, etc., which are generally 1.5 to 2.5 years old. Some of the roots have been put out of the bag, and they have entered the ground. One month before the nursery, shift root-cutting seedlings. Displace all seedlings in Yangshuo (cut the roots outside of the container with scissors), re-let them neatly, spray water, and avoid flooding. Every day at 10 am and 2 pm, when the sun is hot, the leaves are sprayed to ensure that the leaves are not wilting. Promote root growth in the container, long fibrous roots, and root absorption. Continuous spraying for 7 days or so, then depending on the drought conditions, spray water, 4 days before leaving the nursery to 5 days without watering. Especially broad-leaved seedlings, strong roots, less lateral roots, this method can better promote root growth in the bag. Such seedlings are afforested and are more resistant to drought and have a higher survival rate.
