Efficient breeding of Tenebrio by using distiller's grains

Site selection Tenebrio breeding facilities are best located close to the winery, there should be white wine lees storage room, Tenebrio adults spawning room, Tenebrio larvae breeding room, poultry and other economic animal breeding room. If the temperature-raising and temperature-control annual breeding is carried out, the breeding room needs to be equipped with a heat-insulating material, a heating and temperature control system, and a ventilation and dehumidification system.

Distillers' Grain Preparation Distiller's grains contain 65% moisture, 4% crude protein, 4% crude fat, 15% nitrogen-free extract, 12% crude fiber (rice husk), and abundant vitamins. Due to the fact that distillers grains contain a large amount of moisture and are susceptible to mildew, it is best not to store them.

Adult culture Tenebrio adult breeding is the key to the entire supporting technology. Only by raising adults, can a large number of eggs be obtained, and finally a large number of larvae can be cultivated. Production of spawning box: The four sides of the spawning box are made of wood, 8 to 10 cm deep, with iron screens at the bottom. Replacement of the splicing paper with a splicing board made of plywood, using small dried fish and potato chips or squash or carrot slices instead of wheat bran as adult feed, can greatly improve ergonomics. Insect mites were placed: first put the insect mealworms in the spawning box, and then spread a layer of 5 to 6 mm thick wheat bran, and then lay the appropriate amount of small dried fish, after all the feathers of the insects become adults, and then Put a suitable amount of fresh pumpkin slices, fresh carrot slices, or fresh potato slices. The adult feed should be added at the right time depending on the feeding conditions. Mating and spawning: After mating, the female eggs are laid on the egg-bearing board. Pebbles are usually changed every 3 days and sprinkled with 5 to 6 mm thick wheat bran. The removal of the occluder plate should be stacked horizontally in 5 to 6 layers in order, which should not be too heavy to prevent squashing of eggs. It is necessary to place higher-density adult insects in the spawning box to increase the utilization rate of the spawning box and the density of eggs on the egg receiving plate. Adults are generally raised for two months, after which the amount of eggs laid down should be eliminated.

Larvae rearing larvae rearing: Eggs hatch larvae after 6 days. With a spatula, the larvae were scraped off together with wheat bran and placed in a feeding pot. The wheat bran was gently twisted to feed the young larvae of the newly hatched T. molitor. No other feed was needed. To prevent feed drying and water shortage, several pieces of potato chips and other fresh ingredients can be buried in wheat bran. Incubation of young instar larvae: After the young larvae were found to finish eating wheat bran, they added appropriate amount of distillers grains in the feeding pots, and then continued to add wet distillers grains according to feeding conditions. When the larvae grow and the density is too large, it is necessary to divide the pots in a timely manner, and then add wet distillers grains. Temperature and humidity control: The temperature of the rearing room should be controlled at 20°C~25°C. If the room temperature exceeds 25°C, the temperature in the feed layer in the raising pots often exceeds 30°C. Excessive temperatures can affect larval growth. Therefore, the breeding room should pay attention to ventilation and humidity, to prevent lack of oxygen and breeding pests. Prevention of aphids: wheat bran feed is easy to breed aphids, aphids do not feed on the mealworm larvae, but will compete for feeding wheat bran, affecting the growth of larvae. Control methods: First, wheat bran can not be too wet, too much; second is to increase the density of Tenebrio breeding, you can inhibit the growth of maggots.

Efficient use of Tenebrio larvae breeding period is generally 60 to 70 days, larvae used for seed conservation should be diluted, usually 3% to 5% to do species worms. Developed larvae can be separated by airflow. If it is used for raising chickens and raising birds, it can be fed together with rice husks directly for chickens, birds, etc. In general, 40 kg of fresh yellow mealworms can be cultured per ton of wet lees.
