Look at eggs to identify chicken disease

Egg hens are sick. If you carefully observe the egg production and egg quality, you can identify the cause early.

1. Look at the amount of eggs produced. Egg laying hens at the peak of egg production have a monthly average of egg production and a slight difference in output is normal. If the fluctuation is large, the flock is unhealthy. Sudden drop of 20% may be caused by frightened, high temperature environment or lack of water. A drop of 40% to 50% should consider whether the chicken suffers from egg drop syndrome or feed poisoning.

2. Look at the eggshell. The normal egg shell surface is uniform and the color is generally brown or light brown. Abnormal egg shells such as soft shell eggs, thin shell eggs, mostly lack of vitamin D3 or calcium content in the feed due to insufficient. Rough egg shells, sand shell eggs, mostly due to inappropriate calcium, phosphorus ratio in feed, or due to excessive calcium. If the shell is abnormal white shell or yellow shell, it is caused by a large amount of tetracycline or some substances with yellow precipitation. If the eggshell turns brown from white, it may be caused by excessive use of drugs such as Talegar or chickens suffering from Newcastle disease, infectious laryngotracheitis and other infectious diseases.

3. Look at the protein. If the protein turns pink, the amount of cottonseed cake in the feed is too much, or the iron ion in drinking water is high. Protein thinning may be the result of using sulfa drugs or some anthelmintic drugs, or it may be due to the lack of vitamin D and vitamin B2 in the feed. The smell of protein is caused by poor absorption and utilization of fishmeal. Proteins have blood spots, meat spots, and most of the mucous secretions of the fallopian tube are mixed with a small amount of hemoglobin. There are sesame-shaped dots or larger pieces within the protein, which is caused by progenitor disease in hens.

4. Look at the egg yolk. The egg yolk is orange and yellow, which is caused by the high amount of cottonseed cake or a certain pigment substance in the feed. The yolk is gray and white, which is the lack of yellow pigment, vitamin A and vitamin B in the diet. Egg yolk green is too much sodium chlorophyllate in the feed. Thin egg yolks are poor in nutrients for laying hens and vitamin deficiency. The smell of egg yolk is caused by feeding fishmeal.

5. Look at the production time. 70% to 80% of laying hens lay eggs before 12 o'clock in the morning, and 20% to 30% of laying hens lay eggs at 2 to 4 o'clock in the afternoon. If it is found that chickens have uneven egg production time, even if they have nocturnal eggs, they are all abnormal performances. This indicates that chickens have already had chicken disease in the group and should be carefully observed to find out the diseased chickens in time for treatment.
